  DURGA PUJA Step 4: Bahyik Puja 

4.     बाह्यिक् पूजा ( bāhyik pūjā )/External Worship:

4.1.                         Background Info for external worship

4.1.1.      Just as we welcome a very distinguished beloved guest into our home, similarly the external worship is performed. This ritual is executed with various items such as water, flowers, food offering etc. These items, after uttering the appropriate mantras are placed in the vessel (kunda) in front.

4.1.2.      Coverings of all things to be offered should be removed prior to the start of Bahyik puja.

4.1.3.      Bahyik puja consists of the following 5 phases.

4.1.3.1.        Swagatam/Welcome phase

4.1.3.2.        Snaanam/Bath phase

4.1.3.3.        AnnaBhog Nivedanam/Food Offering phase

4.1.3.4.        Aarati/Vesper Service phase

4.1.3.5.        Parisamapti/Conclusion Phase
