DURGA PUJA Step 2: Nyasa
3. NYASA (Identification):
Revd.
Maharaj (Swami Dayatmanandaji)’s favorite Upanishadic quote regarding puja is:
“Devo bhutwa devam yajet” i.e.,
become God to worship God. Hence, the next step after Shuddhi is Nyasa where
the worshipper identifies his fingers, different parts of his body, nay the
entire body (instrument of worship) to the deity to be worshipped. The steps
are outlined below.
Blow the conch Shell. (optional)
Conch Shell is usually blown at the beginning of or during any worship.

Finally, for the last mantram, clamp all

clockwise motion while uttering the mantram and then end with striking the
right-hand fingers (clamed together) against the middle of the left palm which
results in a clap like sound.
